To teach children to recycle different materials, we must first teach them to clean them of other substances and elements. Each material requires a different type of preparation and a particular way of classifying it in the different containers.

You just have to follow a few simple indications, know where the nearest collection centers are and encourage group initiatives to start contributing to recycling, and in this way be able to benefit from the different advantages of this practice.

Types of containers for recycle correctly:

The recycling process begins with the separation of waste at home to deposit it in the corresponding containers. These differ by color in:

  • Green: for glass containers
  • Yellow: for plastic containers and cans
  • Blue: for paper and cardboard

In addition to these containers, there are others that are regulated by the municipalities, called clean points. In them, hazardous waste is deposited, for example: batteries, oils, electrical appliances and debris.

- Fabrics
To recycle the fabric there are a series of basic rules:

  • The old clothes to be donated must be clean, sewn and ironed
  • Cloth pieces for making rags, regardless of size, must be clean
  • Remove buttons, zippers and other decorations that may have the fabrics
  • Separate nylon, polyester, and raincoats from other fabrics

- Plastics
In order to recycle plastic material, you must classify by families. They can be whole or broken pieces and must be clean before depositing them.

- Glass
To recycle glass well, it must be classified by color and taken to the container:

  • The glass must be totally clean
  • It must be classified by colors: green, amber and transparent

- Paper and paperboard
Paper and cardboard should be packed and tied, and should not be damp or wrinkled:

  • Classify the paper according to its type: newspaper, office paper, computer paper, cardboard, cardboard, etc.
  • Do not tear the paper, or crease it
  • Separate paper on one side and cardboard on the other
  • The paper or cardboard should be packed and tied

  • Carbon paper or cellophane should not be included.

- Metals
Whenever possible, cans of aluminum and steel must be compressed.

  • The classification must be done by metal (copper, aluminum, steel, iron)
