In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Franklin D. Roosevelt, proclaimed four basic freedoms of the human being which are, in general lines: freedom of thought, freedom of worship, freedom of opinion and expression, and freedom of union or association.

Based on these freedoms, I decided to transfer them to the childhood stage, to see to what extent they adjust to their reality.

I explain why children need 3 kinds of freedoms.

Children need 3 fundamental freedoms, regardless of age, to have a development appropriate to their maturity level.

The 3 freedoms that the child needs are:

1- Freedom of thought. Children are children and they are in a formative period, they are learning to be adults, they are adult projects. Therefore, from the first moment we must generate spaces and situations for our children to think.

We must offer them scenarios of thought for solution to your problems, who develop a critical and analytical spirit, who are capable of seeing different solutions within the same problem. It is proven that children who think have a more complete maturational development and arrive at the solution of problems earlier.

When I say think, I don't mean "send you to the thinking corner." That is just the opposite.

When I speak of children thinking, it is that before any adversity situationWhether it's such trivial things for us, like taking skates out of a drawer at an early age or finding clothes for their favorite sport.

There are 4 basic questions to ask the child if we want to make him think: what resources do you have to solve the problem? what should you do? what can you do? you want to do?

2- Freedom of feeling. Children, like adults, are people who have their emotions, and we may not understand their anger, their temper tantrums, their fears or their insecurities, but the fact of not understanding them does not give us the right to overcome their feelings. . What we must ensure is that share those emotions and feel free to express them and not be judged by the emotions you are feeling.

I see many parents saying to their children things like "I don't know why you get angry if you have everything and I will not bear it when you get angry at home" or "You have no right to be sad", having this attitude does not help us, we must be more emotionally intelligent, we must make them show their feelings and not judge them. The good thing about emotions is that they just come and go.

Being able to share their emotions with their parents and adults gives them an emotional advantage, helps them a lot, makes them empathize better with their peers, and most importantly, reinforces the bond with our children.

3- Freedom of movement. This is fundamental, the human being was born to move, to go from one place to another, and since dams to the sea cannot be put, we must, apart from knowing this, ensure that our children move, that they go from one side to another, let them jump, run, fall. Abandon that protectionist spirit that limits our children so much "don't run" "don't get on there", etc ... This behavior goes against nature and makes little sense. Children who have lived in freedom of movement tend to be more active, dynamic, less fearful and less lazy children.
